For decades there has been debate about the river structures, deltas, basins, and oceans of liquid water that anciently shaped the surface of Mars.
This study, sponsored by Utrecht University in the Netherlands, analyzes all of these structures to determine whether or not there is an interconnected network of interconnected aquifers on a planetary scale.
By the principle of communicating vessels, in interconnected water system on a planetary scale would imply the presence of a common height of all large water masses and the presence of rivers mostly above this height.
This research proves the presence of this phenomenon on Mars, attesting the altitude of this underground water system between -4000 meters and -4400 meters with respect to what we consider as the average level of Mars also called “datum”.
I strongly recommend you to download the complete research in PDF (accessible for free!) and compare it with the preliminary seismological results obtained by the probe InSight (see https://www.facebook.com/PianetaMarte.MdM/photos/a.1625578140858706/2271036782979502/), everything comes back!
